hello again
How are we all doing in these... unprecedented times? I genuinely want to know.
I am in the thick of drafting Of Valentines and Visions, as well as a few life circumstances that seem to be faced by those of us in the sandwich and Elder Millennial positions. Truly, I've made my peace with this, although I really have become a little bit more like the old man sitting on the lawn and scowling at anyone who goes by.
What else have I been doing? Well, rewatching Hannibal, among other things, and being reminded of how this is actually one of Mads Mikkelsen's best English-speaking roles. As a kid who discovered the Hannibal Lecter/Will Graham/Clarice Starling mythos far too early and saw the films (also too early), I can confidently say without any disrespect to Anthony Hopkins (autistic king!) that my preferred Hannibals are Mads and Gaspard.
I also come with good, series-related news: Like Silk Breathing will be part of Barnes & Noble's Love Without Limits Collection... more on that later... and I'll be doing a 2026 collaboration with a fantastic bookish, indie perfumer that I cannot wait to talk about. I've been a fraghead since I bought myself Ralph Hot in 2006, so really, this is a dream. Sometimes, they take 20 years, you know?
And yes, fragrances very often have colours to me! That will seriously be something I take into account when it comes time to begin our collaboration. It'll have to be the right shade, literally speaking to me and metaphorically to anyone else.
