happy pub day to me (a day late)

Of Flint and Fortune released yesterday, and I'm immensely pleased it's out in the world. As I've said, it's the first part of a two-part arc; even though there will be a small wait between this and Of Valentines and Visions, it'll be worth it.

Of Flint and Fortune released yesterday, and I'm immensely pleased it's out in the world. As I've said, it's the first part of a two-part arc; even though there will be a small wait between this and Of Valentines and Visions, it'll be worth it. I tried my best to finish them both at the same time, but that didn't work out.

Kindly just pretend it's 2006 and we're still used to waiting between book releases... even if there are, gasp and horror of horrors, cliffhangers. (Incidentally, I've been thinking a lot of the parallels between fast fashion/fast everything and the state of publishing, and quietly acknowledging that I may be somewhat of a throwback to a less saturated, more production-based time.)

2025 has been a year.

Don't smoke. But 2025 has made me need a metaphorical smoke break just about every 12 minutes.

I'm sure you've all heard this from authors lately, but every little bit of interaction does help. I would be forever grateful if, when you finish any of my work, you considered leaving a review on the platform of your choice, sharing the books with your networks, or otherwise acknowledging that they exist. We're all pressed for time and money, it seems, but a lot of the ways to show support are minimally expensive or even free.

I've been trying to budget for more advertising and things like character art, but haven't yet been able to commit properly to the prior. I'm more inclined to procure character art and schedule book signings and arrange consignments with local shops. Those sorts of things. Ads are such a quagmire right now, algorithmically and logistically. (Sadly, I'm not being negative. I don't know anyone, including amongst folks whose entire careers and businesses are their books, whose ads are bearing expected fruit.)

After this year, the initially planned six books in Threads of Wyrd will be complete, which is thrilling! I'm also going to be collaborating on a perfume with the fantastic Biblioddities in 2026, and I can't think of a better tribute to this end. I've been given to understand that 2025 is a 9 year according to numerology, so perhaps, just perhaps, things are unfolding as they should. I've never been against the slow and steady approach to growth, even if it can be difficult for me to show patience.

Didn't preorder Of Flint and Fortune and wanna get your hands on it? Wanna recommend my stuff to others?

Here's my Bookbub page, which groups most of the US-based links to buy and read my books.

If you are in the UK, Waterstones is always an option! For the EU and other regions, I'd suggest trying your local Amazon or asking a local bookshop to consider carrying my books. (That one's my preferred option.)

And as always, all love x
