blah blah, cyber monday
I am, as ever, so grateful to have you along. Rather than pelt people with discounts and freebies and sales, none of which I can provide right now, I'll only reiterate that many impactful ways to help authors are free.
I'm certain everybody has had to dig themselves out of their inboxes today to get to anything meaningful. To end the suspense now: there is no sale or giveaway at the end of this post. This, my friends, is simply a thank you and a short reflection! Going into 2025, I didn't think my private life would be so frenetic or intense, so I'm proud in ways I didn't know I would be and won't address just yet, if ever.
But I did believe one of my primary accomplishments would be to finish Threads of Wyrd as it was originally ideated. Mission accomplished, there. While I didn't publish the two-part completion as quickly as I'd planned, I'm happy with it, and I'm also happy to be cooking up another independent project while continuing to bolster TOW's presence and vibe. Two pieces of fanart are coming, both commissioned from superbly talented visual artists, and I'm eyeing a large festival to attend now that I have this series finished. (I'm a delight in person.) At some point in 2026, too, I'll be collaborating with BibliOddities on a TOW-inspired fragrance.
Still, as I've said before, I'm wary of burnout. I didn't want to believe it has such a long half-life, but it does. I also interact daily with examples of what happens if one ignores either it or its foreshadowing, which I used to find vexing and now find useful. It's far better to see it and take it as a poor example, than it is to pretend I'm impervious or apply any moral pronouncements to it. With thoughtful strategy, though, I won't put myself at risk, and I'm looking forward to what the next stage of this cycle will bring.

Love my books? Recommend them! Leave reviews on the sites of your choice! Make a post on socials! Sort of like my books? Do the same things. Hate them? You know what... yeah, do the same stuff. If you're feeling kind, recommend them to people who you think will like them. I've been through peer review; I've had supposed colleagues say dubious, passive-aggressive things to my face. (As long as there are no slurs, bigotry, or malice, we're fine.)

Here's hoping for a peaceful and restorative winter season, for all of us x
